My First Day at ArenaNet

Tue. 5.29.2007
by Sam Beirne

ArenaNet Logo

As I mentioned in my last post, I’m not taking any break between jobs. After a restful Memorial Day weekend, I officially started work as a game designer at ArenaNet, the creator of Guild Wars. ArenaNet’s most recently announced projects are Guild Wars: Eye of the North, an expansion set in Tyria, the world players explored in the first Guild Wars campaign, and Guild Wars 2.

It has always been my desire to work on PC Strategy and RPG games, and ArenaNet stands among the best in PC game development. I’m very excited about what’s in store for the future of Guild Wars and am really looking forward to working on the game. All in all, it’s been a pretty good start to the summer.

My Last Day at Amaze Entertainment

Fri. 5.25.2007

Amaze Entertainment Logo

Today was my final day as an employee of Amaze Entertainment. After a great deal of deliberation, I decided that it was time to move on and pursue other opportunities. I was employed by Amaze Entertainment for nearly three and a half years. During that time, I helped ship five games for the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS. Amaze Entertainment was a great place to begin my career, and I am extremely proud of my accomplishments.

My next venture will begin in a few days time. I’ll post an update once everything has officially begun.

PotC: At World’s End — GameSpot Preview

Mon. 3.19.2007

GameSpot has posted a preview of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, the latest (announced) game I’ve worked on for the Nintendo DS. The preview includes a few screenshots of the adventure game as well as the touch driven dueling mode. Most of the copy is about the Xbox 360 and Wii versions of the game, developed by Eurocom Entertainment Software, but there’s a nice summary of the DS version near the end.
