Lego Star Wars: The Video Game
Overview
Lego Star Wars: The Video Game is an isometric action game for the Game Boy Advance. Players take control of iconic Star Wars characters like R2-D2, Darth Maul, and Yoda in levels spanning the entire prequel trilogy: The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith. True to the title, the characters are made of Legos as are many of the objects in the world, and players use Legos to overcome obstacles in the game.
My Role
I joined Lego Star Wars in the second half of its development, replacing the sole designer on the project who moved on to another position. Lego Star Wars was built using modified versions of the Robots tools. Levels were created with hightmaps in Pro Motion and then extruded to the isometric perspective. The map artists drew backgrounds on top of the extruded maps. I edited heightmaps, populated levels with game objects, and scripted gameplay using Griptonite’s proprietary Nintendo Game Boy Advance tools.
